And this week Johnny Depp’s new movie opened the Cannes Film Festival, and the actor was met by large groups of adoring fans and received a seven-minute standing ovation for his performance, which then brought him to tears. Some people are outraged about how the actor was treated but we have an (unpopular) opinion about why it had to unfold this way.
