About this episode

It’s Eurovision time! It should be a time of wild celebrations, outrageous performances and controversial costumes. But for last year’s winner, it has been anything but that. Ukraine remains in the grips of war. Lives and livelihoods have been lost, homes destroyed and life’s simple pleasures have been replaced by a daily fight for survival.

And the LGBT community is not immune. While some party in Liverpool in the UK, members of Ukraine’s rainbow community have gone to fight or flee to safety. Progress on LGBT rights in Ukraine is on hold. But you will hear first hand in this podcast, the spirit of hope and defiance inside Ukraine as we revisit our chat with the Executive Director of Kyiv Pride, Lenny Emson.
