Covetousness is likely the sin most committed yet the one least talked about from the pulpit. The issues of money, fulfillment, and how we understand God’s provision and leadership of our lives are the core issues of our life and identity in Christ. To identify and repent our way out of the restlessness of covetousness over time is critical to lay hold of the fullness of delight and joy in this life. Covetousness is the poison that kills the satisfaction and pleasure we find in communion with Christ. Unfulfillment is the restlessness that distorts the cry of “there must be more” from “more of the beauty of Jesus” to “more influence, more recognition, more honor, more security and safety, more ministry, more vocational success”.
