112. Stop the Anxiety Of Health Insuranc...

About this episode

This week's episode is a good one. Are you sick of how expensive your health insurance is yet the bills from appointments still end up being high? Are you sick of never knowing what you're even paying for when you pay your monthly health insurance? Are you sick of feeling lost when it comes to benefits? Are you sick of wondering is this in network or not? Are you a person who loves to give to others? Are you a person who loves to help humanity for everyones greater good? Are you someone who is sick of the same old systems weve had in place for years on end? Crowdhealth is here to change up the healthcare cost system.

"For years, the insurance system has failed millions of Americans. No one is immune to this, including us, because there is no true alternative to health insurance and that’s why Andy started CrowdHealth. Andy Schoonover is the founder and CEO of CrowdHealth, a company established to give everyone access to affordable healthcare. He is formerly the CEO of VRI, a company built to help the elderly managed chronic conditions. He is a graduate of Stanfords Graduate School of Business and the University of Virginia. He and his wife, two girls, and two pups live in Austin TX. About a year ago Andy's daughter had recurring ear infections and a perforated eardrum. Andy and his wife scheduled a 15-minute procedure at the local hospital to get tubes in her ears. Very common but stressful nonetheless. Not too long after the procedure they got the bill: $8,000! Their health insurance plan said they weren’t going to pay for it because it was “medically unnecessary”.They had done everything right. Their doctor delayed his vacation by a day to do the procedure because he was concerned about long term hearing loss. Yet when they needed our health insurance, they refused to show up to help.

Our health insurance system is broken. We need an alternative way to pay for healthcare. That is why Andy started CrowdHealth. No one should have to go through a big health event then get abandoned in their time of need by the people who are supposed to have their backs.

"Health insurance is cold, oftentimes unreliable, and perversely incentivized. We’re changing the game at CrowdHealth. Treating people like real people, like extensions to our family, supporting them in their health journey, and helping get their bills paid at a low cost. It’s time for us to redefine what “healthcare” means to our society. This is my purpose as a father and founder and it’s our team’s purpose at CrowdHealth."
