The Power of Scarcity: How it Influences...

Shari Rash, Money Podcast for Women, Personal Finance, Relationships & Mental Health
About this episode

In this vault podcast episode, I chat with Mindy Weinstein, author of "The Power of Scarcity," about the role scarcity plays in our daily lives, particularly in your relationship with money. Mindy explains that scarcity is the strongest influence factor and is the unavailability of something, whether it's hard to get or simply unavailable. Scarcity plays a significant role in your money decisions, as you tend to focus on getting something that is popular or hard to obtain, even if you don't necessarily need it. Mindy shares research studies that show how scarcity affects your decision-making process at a subconscious level, which is really fascinating. We also do a deep dive into insights about how to avoid making impulsive purchases driven by scarcity. I'm very guilty of that!
