On this episode of Mocs on the Mic presented by SmartBank, host Chris Goforth talks with wrestlilng head coach Kyle Ruschell and National Qualifiers Brayden Palmer and Matthew Waddell.
The pair, along with Rocky Jordan, qualified for the NCAA Championships beginning March 16 and runs through the 18th in Tulsa, Okla.
Brayden Palmer, the 18 seed, opens against No. 15 Zach Redding from Iowa State. A win would likely setup a Southern Scuffle rematch with No. 2 Oklahoma State's Daton Fix who got past Palmer in the championship bout on Jan. 2 in McKenzie Arena.
Rocky Jordan is the 10 seed at 174. His first opponent is Drexel's Mickey O'Malley who is seeded 23rd. He also has a potential rematch in his half of the draw although they'll both have to reach the final four to see it come together. That's with No. 11 Nelson Brands who Jordan defeated 3-1 in the December dual in the Roundhouse.
Matthew Waddell comes in at No. 30. He'll matchup with No. 3 Aaron Brooks from Penn State. His half of the draw includes Clarion's Will Feldkamp (W, Fall), Campbell's Caleb Hopkins (W, Dec.) and Illinois' Dylan Connell (L, Dec.).
The top eight finishers in each of the 10 weight classes will be crowned All-American.
