About this episode

Take action with purpose supporting your highest good

“The future depends on what you do today.” – Mahatma Gandhi

There are, in my opinion, two types of action; inspired action and re-action. Resorting to re-action comes out of our core wounds and traumatic experiences that remain unhealed. From that, when emotions and fear are evoked and we are stuck in our heads unaware of our process, we react instinctively without control, in the heat of the moment as it were. Inspired action comes from our intuition and inner guidance. When we are guided by our purpose and what feels right in our hearts we take action with a deep rooted expression; what is, in Buddhism, called “right action”.

Moving from re-action to inspired action requires us to make a choice, a choice to take control. Realising that, even when we are reacting, we choose every action, but when are re-acting the choice is to not deal with the aspects of ourselves that are the sources of the re-action. Controlling how we act when triggered can be inspired if it is done with awareness and compassion with respect for our own boundaries.

Our core wounding is deep rooted and only our willingness to explore and heal it will allow us to not act from it. There are elements of it in our physical, mental, energetic, soul and astral bodies and being aware of your experiences within each. Most of us are really only aware of our physical and mental bodies, but with practice and clarity awareness of the other ones will come. There are a number of practices we can use to run our process to release pent up energies (trauma and emotions) from our various bodies; breathworks, meditation, pattern interrupt, observation, yoga, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, etc. At the end of the day our aim is to become mindful and aware, so that we can control how we act on and express our triggers and emotions.
