Our very first guest is British filmmaker: Sam King! Sam is a documentary filmmaker, cinematographer and editor who has been in Tokyo, Japan since October 2016. Specializing in music, Sam has worked on projects for Resident Advisor, FACT Magazine, Vinyl Factory, NTS Radio, Red Bull, Ableton and many more.
In addition to filmmaking, music plays a big role in Sam's life. He is actively involved in producing and playing music. Sam is one-half of the Tokyo-based electronic duo: Hanegi Koen. The band focuses on the live approach to writing music, using analog synths and drum machines instead of laptops and digital effects. The chat gets into a wide range of topics ranging from what it takes to make a career out of your passion, how to make the leap and work abroad or remotely, how to maintain confidence and keep your skills sharp in times of struggle and what we can learn about our failures.
