#69: Why Do People Become Narcissists?

Gloria Zhang, MA
About this episode

The word “narcissist” has been easily tossed around to call out people who have big egos, are callous, rude or unempathetic. But is it really that simple? And do you ever wonder what made them this way?

In this episode, I share a different perspective as to why people become narcissists. Whether it’s severe trauma, genetics or environmental factors, today we’ll delve deeper into understanding what narcissism really is and why seeing it so black and white doesn’t really capture the full complexity of human nature.

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. Why people with severe childhood trauma can become narcissists
  2. What really happens when "turning off your empathy" becomes the only coping mechanism for those experiencing the dark night of the soul.
  3. Free resources and practical tips on how to expand our understanding of these concepts without the rigid labels

Hey bestie! My mission is to help High-Achievers and people-pleasers heal their Inner Child and find healthy love, especially those who desire an extraordinary connection but often struggle in their relationships.
