WGB #86: An Amazin' Turn Of Events

Barstool Sports
About this episode

Mets fans are some of the most passionate around and with that passion comes over reaction. We fly high and sink low at the drop of a hat and boy are we flying right now! After a slow start that dealt with COVID cancellations and rain outs, the Mets finally got back to playing consistent baseball and wouldn't you know it, the sky isn't falling after all. The rotation has looked amazing lately with deGrom, Taijuan Walker, Stroman and Peterson all pitching gems and the bats look to be finally waking up. NimmOBP is playing like a man possessed, reaching base at least twice in every game this season, Dom Smith looks to be a true heart of the order hitter and Pete Alonso is spraying the ball all over the park. Once Lindor and McNeil really start to get going this lineup is going to be SCARY. We're winning games with bare minimum run support so just wait until we're putting up six runs on a consistent basis. Diaz is electrifying the crowds with his entrance music, but it's his pitching that's really going to put it over the top. Sure, there's still question marks in the pen, but with guys like Loup, Castro and May stepping up this could really be the complete team that everyone was hoping for. There will still be days where we can't put it all together, but if a guy like Frank the Tank can fist pump at least a few nights a week then we could really be on the road to 96 after all! KFC breaks down his live-watch with the Tank and what really sent him over the edge, we talk about the Verducci-deGrom article that was utter nonsense and the guys address the "breaking news" warning that was meant as a courtesy, but was met with backlash. At the end of the day we're all fans and we're all here for the Mets. We wanted to tip people off as to what was coming down the pike so that they could prepare themselves for the headlines and bad press, but mainly we're just here to react to what's going on with the team on the field. We gotta believe that this winning streak isn't just a flash in the pan, but really a glimpse into what the 2021 season will be. We're taking the good vibes to Colorado and popping those blue mountains as Jacob deGrom heads to the bump to make it four in a row!
