Coming out to family is an experience that binds members of the LGBT community. It’s scary. It’s unknown. And it’s full of questions…and acronyms! But for most parents there are just as many questions and many more unknowns. Through his own experience of coming out, one Irishman has created a guide to help.
The guide has been designed to give parents and guardians – whether they have LGBTQ+ children or not – information on terminology and how they can support LGBTQ+ young people. And tonight we speak with the creator of the guide – Domhnaill Harkin from Irish LGBTQ+ charity, ShoutOut.
