There’s so much to talk about in Black Panther, and I was so excited to chat with Robyn Warren of Geek Girl Strong and Chavon Coleman of Geeky and Creepy.
Since seeing Black Panther together opening night (along with Robyn’s mom and Chavon’s nephew), we haven’t really been able to stop talking about it. There’s just so much to say about the story and the characters and the way everything looks, and each viewing makes you notice something new.
We start with the incredible women in this movie. From Okoye to Nakia to Shuri (which Robyn calls the holy trinity), each is inspirational in her own way. They combine strength and wisdom to create a powerful support system for their people. And they look really freaking good while they’re doing it.
We also discuss the way Black Panther portrays both African and African-American cultures. It was a pleasant surprise that this comic book movie goes so deep. Even though comics touch on some really deep topics, we haven’t seen as much from the movies yet. Until now.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you really must. And then come talk about it with us!
