As the head of trail running footwear at Salomon, Mike has a lot of responsibility! Not only to make sure that new products are dreamt-up, produced and delivered each year, but also to carry on the lineage and heritage of the brand which has seen such landmark products as the Speedcross and Slab Sense, which have helped mould the sport of trail running over the last 15 years or so.
We talk about Mike's background in running and how a chance conversation at a Salomon meeting brought him from Colorado to Annecy, France, to work at the Salomon global HQ. We also examine how Covid19 was negotiated through a team-ethic and with collaborative working across the world - whilst under lockdown - and how he is inspired by competitor brands, athlete feedback and the Alpine running environment where he lives, to continually push footwear and the sport forward.
