Veterans Health Administration
About this episode
On this episode, Dr. Shari Dade takes a moment to connect with Dr. Shabnam “Shabi” Showell, an Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) of primary care West at the North Florida South Georgia Health Care System, and a leadership coach. Dr. Showell is an internist who completed medical school and residency at the University of Colorado.  She is passionate about primary care, women's health, musculoskeletal medicine, medical education, leadership coaching, and in improving health disparities. She is an avid baker, dancer, skier, and the mother of four beautiful children.

Listen in for a discussion on how the fear of missteps and not trusting yourself as a leader can lead to failing before you even begin the journey.

===============================

Key Lessons:
1) Working to accept that failing at something does not make you a failure will relieve the weight of having to be successful every time you put in effort.
2) When you are not engaging and taking the steps to lead, even in the risk of possible failure, you are manufacturing smallness for yourself and preventing yourself from getting to your goals in leadership.
