In honor of international women's history months, we spoke to the wise, women advocate, Catherine Wanjiru Kinyua from Nairobi Kenya.
Domestic violence against women is a widespread universal issue. Our guest will be discussing her personal experience as an African woman living in Africa. Violence against women goes beyond beatings. It includes forced marriage, dowry-related violence, sexual harassment, intimidation at work and in educational institutions, forced pregnancy, forced abortion, forced sterilization, trafficking, and forced prostitution.
My belief is that once we are directly impacted by life experiences we become an expert on specific life events. Madame Catherine Kinyua shares painful lessons from her 18 years of field marriage. She speaks from the heart and it reaches the heart of many around the world.
***TRIGGER WARNING** This episode includes difficult topics such as domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and relationship abuse, Which may be triggering to survivors or victims ... if you are in the U.S, please, contact advocacy Hotline (1-800-799-SAFE or via chat) for free confidential advocate help. Women Advocate groups in Kenya are less than few, our guest hopes to continue her advocacy work to help many women.
