THIS EPISODE WAS DONE IN SWEDISH
Erik Söderlind is a jazz-guitar player from Sweden. He is the guest in episode number three of the podcast. He has been around on the Swedish and international jazz-scene for more than a decade.
You will be able to recognize him immediately because of his unique tone which is clear and articulate. His playing style shows imprint from jazz giants as Wes Montgomery, Grant Green and George Benson as well as Peter Bernstein. Coming out of this tradition he also adds his own part and ends up in a more modern style.
The blues is also an important part of Erik´s music, which is brought to the surface when he performs with an organ combo. These days the group includes drummer Chris Montgomery and Organist Leo Lindberg but he has also recorded with Swedish Hammond legend Kjell Öhman. He also has a group which includes drummer Moussa Fadera and bass player Kenji Rabson.
He has recorded seven albums as a leader which includes artists as Svante Thuresson, Lisa Nilsson and Eric Alexander. Listen to the conversation and find out where Erik´s fingerpicking jazz-guitar style comes from and his thoughts on improvisation.
