Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Kyrie ...

iHeartPodcasts
About this episode

On today's episode, Jason brings you a deep dive into Kyrie Irving's ongoing war against the fans in Boston. Jayson Tatum's game-winning layup to beat the Brooklyn Nets should have been the biggest headline of the weekend, but after the game all anyone could talk about was Kyrie's (repeated) back-and-forth with the Celtics faithful. Irving flipped the bird at a few courtside fans (a couple of times), shouted obscenities at someone in the tunnel and eventually told the media after the game he plans to keep that same energy throughout the series. Our fearless leader has been hard on Kyrie over the years, but he's riding with the mercurial point guard in this one. Irving, like LeBron James and Kevin Durant before him, isn't afraid to play the villain. Sports fans nowadays think they have the right to do or say whatever they want without repercussion, so it's refreshing to see a star like Kyrie give them a taste of their own medicine. Not only does it make for a better on-court rivalry, but it sends a message to these jabronis in the stands that these players are humans, too. Bravo, Kyrie. Later, Jason closes the show with a very special edition of the Best Bet featuring a slate of Game 2's in the NBA Playoffs.
