Alya Mooro | Life As a Middle Eastern W...

Lamaan
About this episode

Alya Mooro is an Egyptian-born journalist and writer based in London who wrote her first book The Greater Freedom: Life As a Middle Eastern Woman Outside the Stereotypes where she discusses the identity crisis that can be caused as a result of immigration,
the 'stereotyping' of the Arab woman,  toxic masculinity in females, and a lot more.

The conversation starts with a simple, yet crippling question, only felt by those of us born and raised in a cultural mocktail;  "How do you answer the question where are you from?"
We discuss the existential crisis of Arab girls raised around the globe and the need to feel a sense of belonging, the fear of shame, the need for validation and understanding and the urge for honest representation of the Arab woman BY ARAB WOMEN.

Within the talk, we dive in deeper into inner child healing, awareness and building boundaries along growing up! Enjoy the talk!
