El trabajo más recordado de Metallica llegó a las tiendas en 1991, un año de enorme cosecha musical con el debut de Pearl Jam, el Nevermind de Nirvana, el Used your illusion de Guns n Roses, discos de Primal Scream, de Red Hot Chili Peppers, una enorme colección de una época gloriosa en la que brilló el giro musical de la banda estadounidense, que asaltó las listas de éxito y abrió hueco en un nuevo público.

El disco negro de Metallica, su quinto disco de estudio, fue una apuesta fuerte por acceder a otros mercados y conectar con otra audiencia. Para ello contaron con Bob Rock, un productor que supo “suavizar” el sonido de la banda y que también influyó en su forma de trabajar.

Con este álbum la banda entró en la programación habitual de MTV, pero también dio un salto cualitativo en las salas en las que tocaba y en las radios que sonaba. Desde este momento, la carrera de Metallica cambió para siempre y por ello hemos querido empezar la séptima temporada con este disco.

Esta semana dedicamos el Sofá Sonoro a recordar esta joya del rock más duro, un viaje en el que nos acompaña Toni Castarnado y Jimena Marcos.
