EP 198 - Tomboy, Feminism And Gender Ide...

Dr. Taz MD
About this episode
We know that the Super Woman audience is a lot of moms and parents, who are all navigating raising children of all genders.

We know that the Super Woman audience is a lot of moms and parents, who are all navigating raising children of all genders.

In her latest book TOMBOY, Lisa Selin Davis says she wrote it because the story behind it is personal. When her daughter was in preschool, she gravitated towards "boy stuff" as much as she did "girl stuff."

When her daughter came home a few years later saying someone how called her a "tomboy," Davis decided to explore what that meant exactly beyond short hair on a girl, and how we assume gender identity based on clothes alone.

Lisa Selin Davis is an essayist, novelist, and journalist who has written for major publications such as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and many more. She talks with Dr. Taz this episode on the history behind the word tomboy, the boundaries between transgender, tomboy, and other identities, as well as how the gender revolution will come from the parents of boys.
