Matthew Stafford Makes the Rams the Best...

iHeartPodcasts
About this episode

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick thought on the Brooklyn Nets loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday Night. Don't look now, but since the Nets acquired James Harden, they have the worst defense in NBA history. Yikes. Kevin Durant and the boys better tighten that up if they expect to make a run at the NBA Finals. Plus, Jason goes deep on the blockbuster trade that saw Matthew Stafford land with the Los Angeles Rams and Jared Goff end up with the Detroit Lions. Stafford instantly makes the Rams the best team in the NFC next season. Don't let his lack of playoff success fool you; Detroit has been an absolute dumpster fire for decades now. There's nothing Stafford could have done to change that. Now, he's in a winning culture surrounded by elite talent like Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey and a top-5 coach in Sean McVay. From Detroit's perspective, they acquire a young quarterback in Goff who has had some success in the League plus two first round picks. They won't be a playoff team next season but at least they're set up for the future. The trade was truly a win-win for both teams. At the point, the only question is: What does this trade mean for Deshaun Watson? If Stafford netted two first rounders, will Watson command four? It's going to be a fascinating next offseason in the NFL.
