خاضت رحلة صعبة لتدرس وتعمل كممرضة متطوعة في أيام الحرب العالمية الثانية، سافرت إلى مصر وعملت وتعلمت ثم عادت إلى ليبيا لتصبح بعد تعب أول مذيعة ليبية تقرأ الأخبار عبر الإذاعة، ومشرفة على إصدار مجلة المرأة ورئيسة تحريرها.
