31: A Promising Vision to Help Educators...

EdUp Learning and Development
About this episode

On the 31st episode of EdUp EdTech, I got to chat with Sam Kary, CEO, and Founder and Thom Gibson, Creative Director of the New EdTech Classroom. Sam and Thom are both former educators who want to help current educators dive into the wonderful world of edtech armed with the confidence and resources to make any classroom engaging and dynamic. During this episode, we chat about all things EdTech including all the wonderful resources Sam and Thom have created and curated for educators looking to use EdTech in their classrooms. These two are two of the coolest and most down-to-earth humans I've ever chatted with.

More About Sam

Sam began his career in public education in 2010 as a Teach for America corps member in Richmond, CA. He taught Middle School in the Bay Area for the next decade, and during that time was also Lead Instructional Coach at Breakthrough SF, co-chair of the Humanities department, grade-level team leader, and faculty representative to the Board of Trustees.

He now works full-time supporting teachers around the world with strategic technology integration through New EdTech Classroom’s YouTube channel, blog, webinars, workshops, and online courses.

More About Thom

Thom Gibson is a two-time teacher of the year educator, Director of EdTech & Innovation, and an Adobe Education Leader. He teaches middle-school math, robotics, and YouTube Video Production and serves as Creative Director at New EdTech Classroom.

Outside of education, he’s a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, an avid runner, a chicken wing (and ranch) connoisseur, and is actively involved in his church.  He, his wife Sara, and daughter Audrey live in Austin, TX.
