Hay discos que importan más allá del dinero que recaudan, álbumes cuyo impacto no se mide en dinero.  Ramones inició una revolución en la música de la segunda mitad de los años setenta tras editar su homónimo debut. Aquel trabajo crudo, salvaje y errático marcó el inicio del punk rock.

La historia de la banda neoyorquina resulta trepidante, aunque ellos reconocen que solo hacían la música que les gustaría escuchar en la radio, su influencia fue mucho más alla.

En estas 14 canciones tremendamente breve hay un crudo retrato del Nueva York salvaje de aquellos años. Hay violencia, desesperación, desarraigo, odio, dudas. El sentir de una nueva generación de chavales que no se identificaban con la música de los años setenta ni con el idealismo de la contracultura de los sesenta. Aquellos nuevos oyentes encontraron consuelo y comprensión en las letras de la banda neoyorquina y una válvula de escape en su sonido físico y veloz.

Esta semana dedicamos el Sofá Sonoro a recordar aquella época, el contexto, el sonido y las canciones que surgieron alrededor del nacimiento de un mito como el de Ramones. Para este viaje nos acompañan Arturo Lezcano y Lucía Taboada.
