Text:

Translation

Crimea is a peninsula on the northern coast of the Black Sea. Its area is about 26 860 km ². The population is about 2 million people.

As for the history of the Crimea, the first settlements appeared here in the 12th century BC. At different times, the territory was owned by the Goths, Huns, Tatars, Armenians, Mongols, etc.

In the 18th century, under a decree from Empress Catherine II, the Crimea was included in the Russian Empire, then the famous Russian Black Sea Fleet was also housed here.

In the 1920s, this territory was called the Autonomous Crimean Soviet Socialist Republic in the RSFSR. In the 1950s the Crimea was transferred to the possession of the Ukrainian SSR. And after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Gorbachev «handed» Crimea to Ukraine.
