Chitra’s Journey into Connective Parenti...

MICHELLE KENNEY, M. ED
About this episode

Traditionally, children are meant to obey their parents without question and any sign of defiance is met with punishment. We believe that our child’s behavior is a reflection of us as parents and that opens us up to judgment from others. No one wants to be labeled as a “bad parent” but just because something is accepted as the norm doesn’t always mean it’s automatically right either.

Chitra Peña, a member of the Peace and Parenting community, sits down with me to share her story and experiences in moving towards a more conscious parenting method and its results-- including her relationship with her children and her confidence in herself as a parent. Additionally, we’ll also dive into the effects of conventional parenting on the emotional well-being of both the parents and children.

Don’t forget to tune into this episode so we can help you forge a healthier relationship with your family!

Episode Highlights:

  • Chitra’s journey towards conscious parenting
  • How she processed her thoughts and feelings when her child experienced hurt
  • Deviating from conventional parenting and how she dealt with the judgment
  • Parenthood is not meant to be a hierarchy
  • The emotional cost of conventional parenting on your child and yourself
