Ep 176: Stories of the Sahara by Sanmao ...

ANNA BAILLIE-KARAS, ANNIE WATERS AND AMANDA HAYES
About this episode

Anna and Annie discuss the Miles Franklin shortlist.

Our book of the week is Stories of the Sahara by Sanmao translated by Mike Fu. This travel memoir has sold millions of copies in China and Taiwan since the 1970s and is now available for the first time in English translation.  Sanmao was an iconic writer, feminist, philosopher and intrepid traveller.  Well worth reading.

Coming up: Still Life by Sarah Winman.
