1174 | Angela Duckworth: “We Only Learn ...

SEAN CROXTON
About this episode

Everyone has the potential to achieve greatness. However, only a few manage to turn latent greatness into reality. Sadly, not all people who devote their lives to pursuing their dreams become excellent in what they do. With this, Dr. Angela Duckworth explains to us the elements of excellence that differentiate the expert from the mediocre.

According to Angela, no one really starts off as an excellent person, and thousands of hours of practice do not guarantee excellence either. Studies show that those who spent more time doing the most effortful and least enjoyable practice emerged as the most excellent and proved to be greater than the rest.

In the long run, hard work and sacrifice genuinely pay off. As Aristotle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
